The Aghtamar edition

The Church of the Holy Cross, Surb Khach, stands on Aghtamar, a small island in Lake Van. It was built between 915 and 921 by the architect Manuel for King Gagik Artsruni, and its outer walls are covered in carving: scenes from the Bible, animals, a running vine. The cap of TUFF Heritage recreates one of these 10th-century reliefs. It is carved from tuff, the same stone the church is built of. The card inside the case says it best: a piece of the world's forgotten beauty, waiting to be shared.

Terroir

Armenian brandy is born in the valleys under Mount Ararat. Volcanic soil, hot dry summers and snowy winters shape the character of this land. The grapes need a whole season to take it in.

Ageing

Distilled twice and aged for 30 years in oak barrels. Over that time the aroma opens up and the character of the brandy takes shape.

Did you know

The Armenian Highland holds some 28 shades of tuff. The churches of Ani and the walls of Yerevan were built of it. Every TUFF cap is cut from this stone and finished by hand, so no two are alike. Once the last glass is poured, the hollow cap can be kept as a keepsake.

About the brand

TUFF is named after tuff, the volcanic stone of Armenia's houses and churches. The packaging, designed by Backbone Branding, has been recognised with a Red Dot Award and two Pentawards.
