TUFF XO or Heritage: which to choose

TUFF makes two brandies: XO and Heritage. One is aged 20 years, the other 30. Both come from Ararat valley grapes, both wear a cap cut from volcanic tuff. What changes is the depth of the taste, the occasion, and the case.

In short

TUFF XO — 20 years in Caucasian oak. For an evening with people you like, and as your main gift.

TUFF Heritage — 30 years, a limited series. For the occasion that matters most, and the people who matter most.

Age and taste

XO, 20 years. Deep amber with golden glints. The nose gives candied apricot, roasted almond and cinnamon. The taste runs to caramel, dark chocolate, vanilla, fig and soft oak, with a long warm finish.

Heritage, 30 years. The same roots, deeper and calmer. Ten more years in the barrel build a denser, more settled taste and a longer finish. This is a brandy you don't hurry; it opens in the glass over about fifteen minutes.

Occasion

XO is the all-rounder. Open it at the table, give it to colleagues, parents, partners. It comes as a 700 ml bottle in a gift box and as a 50 ml miniature for long lists and welcome packs.

Heritage is for the once-in-a-lifetime moment: an anniversary, a milestone, a deep thank-you. It is the gift for the person you want to single out.

Packaging

XO comes in a gift box; the 50 ml miniature carries the same stone cap.

Heritage lies in a dark blue case, set into a stone relief. Its cap is carved by hand after the reliefs of Armenian monuments. There are "Ani" (after the church in the medieval capital) and "Aghtamar" (after the 10th-century Church of the Holy Cross) editions.

A name, a date or a few words can be engraved on the glass, even on a single bottle. Put them together in the engraving studio and see how they sit on the bottle before you order.

What they share

Both are Armenian brandy from Ararat valley grapes, double distilled, 40%. Both wear a hand-finished tuff cap: no two are alike, and it stays with you after the last glass.
